In US Where can your travel for Hiking and Trekking

I do not want to limit the choice of the readers for hiking and trekking by just showing few routes. In my reckoning these 10 routes are among the most travelled hiking routes. You may go by your own convenience. Almost all national (mountain) parks have trekking and hiking trails like Yosemite National Park, grand Canyon National Park, Yellowstone Park and Zion National Park. Some hiking trails to add in planning lst are:-

  • Penobscot & Sargent Mountains. Relatively a tough trail, however, the ponds and the rock formations in route make the 5.4 mile trekking pleasant.
  • Mount Rogers, Virginia. It’s a one day, 4.5 miles moderate route which originates from the gap in Grayson Highlands State Park. It leads to Virginia’s highest peak (5,728 feet) in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  • Kalalau Trail, Hawaii. A 3-4 days track, with difficulty level relatively hard, is the only access to Kauai’s Na Pali Coast. If you want to witness heavenly landscape, waterfalls, valleys and fruit trees, this route is your next plan for sure.
  • Tillamook Head Trail, Oregon. It is a 6.3-mile trail leading through the wild, with vies of spurs jutting into the Pacific, elks, eagles and many a times the migrating whates may be sighted. It is a half day trekking / hiking with moderate gradient.
  • Superior Hiking Trail, Minnesota. AN easy to moderate track, with option of trekking in a single to couple of days. Lake Superior remains the point of interest of the trekkers. While passing through the jungle, chances of sighting wild life are very high.
  • West Maroon Creek Trail, Colorado. It is also 1 day and easy trail, which connects Aspin and Crested Butte. Spring season is the best choice for trailing in this area for views of the colors of flowers. At later part, it winds through glacial valley in the White River National Forest. The trail is moderately difficult.
  • Tongue Mountain Loop, NY. A moderate track which is perfect for a one day out. You can traverse the 13-mile trail with 3 x summits along the path, offering view of the lake and the islands.
  • John Muir Trail, California. 2-4 weeks to be spared for traversing distance of 211-mile trek from Yosemite Valley to Mount Whitney. It is a hard and enduring trail. Be sure you are equipped well before the word GO. Sighting Half Dome, Vernal Falls, Ansel Adams Wilderness and later witnessing the highest peaks of United States make the trail more appealing to hardcore hikers and trekkers.
  • Nankoweap Trail, Arizona. A challenging route in the Grand Canyons, follows the Old Native American path and descends 6000 feet in 14 miles up to the Colorado River. Turning round and climbing back remains the challenging part of the trek. It is a hard trail, which may require 2-4 days.
  • Observation Point, Utah. It is a single day hiking trail having moderate difficulty level. It is an 8-mile round trip but considered most dramatic. The trek is smoothly carved into sandstone wall which makes it more scenic. When you reach the Observation Point (6,508 feet), the sweeping view of the Canyon, Angels Landing, the Red Arc Mountain and White Throne make your day.

What To Keep In Mind

When moving out to unfamiliar grounds, may be in your own state or out to other country, planning phase holds same all god points for you. Keep these factors in mind and we assure you a real adventurous and safe activity.

  • For basic requirements of a trip, please refer to our Travel Guidance blog.
  • Get detail information on the track and trail selected for your adventure. Internet, local guides and old veteran trekkers remain authority over the subject, get maximum out of them.
  • Never move out without knowing the weather updates for the planned duration of the activity and location.
  • After getting precise information on above mentioned points, pack up your baggage accordingly.
  • DO not plan one day and move out the very next. Start off with daily training for the task. Prepare your lungs in accordance to the height and the distance planned for the hike and the trek.
  • Selection of routes for your activity becomes easy when the selected mountain is in closer proximity of civilization. It becomes challenging when you travel farthest mountains with no beaten tracks.

  • Do keep a printed topographical or geographical map, which you understand well, in hand during a trekking and hiking travel. Be sure the map contains your area of interest.

  • Check for the networks working on the hiking route. Get one and keep someone informed of your where abouts, especially when you are heading for solo moves.
